Practical guidance for teams planning software, AI adoption or delivery capacity.

The most common mobile MVP mistake isn't picking the wrong technology—it's scoping a "minimum viable product" that's actually a full v1 of every feature on the founder's whiteboard. A true MVP tests the one or two assumptions that determine whether the product is worth building further, and nothing else.

Defining the first useful release

Identify the single core workflow that has to work end-to-end for a user to get real value, and cut everything that supports a nice-to-have path around it. Account creation, settings screens and edge-case handling can often wait; the core value loop cannot.

Timeline and team shape

A focused mobile MVP with React Native typically takes eight to fourteen weeks with a small cross-functional team—one to two engineers, a designer part-time, and QA support in the final weeks. Adding more engineers to compress this timeline usually adds coordination overhead rather than speed at this scale.

What to cut, and what never to cut

Cut: polish on secondary screens, support for edge-case devices, nice-to-have integrations. Never cut: basic error handling, secure authentication, and a release pipeline that lets you ship a fix quickly after launch—cutting these creates risk that's expensive to unwind later.
